Art from a reduced palette

Freedom of expression, which is something ICT is often thought of as encouraging, can sometimes be counterproductive when you’re trying to learn or train in some disciplined form. If you’re writing a haiku, for example, a word processor adds very little value, but if you wrote longhand you could add information to the haiku by the expressiveness of your handwriting. One Chinese painting tradition requires that the brush is dipped into ink, used, dipped into water, used, dipped once more, used a final time- and then the painting is finished. Here’s my attempt. It’s a school of fish, collectively choosing to keep their distance from the observer.

Are these the sorts of skills best taught without the use of ICT?
